Questions

Will yin yoga make me more flexible?

Yes, but flexibility grows slowly and steadily. Yin works by gently stressing connective tissue over time; with regular practice, you'll notice lasting improvements in range and ease.

I have arthritis or joint sensitivity. Is yin safe for me?

Yin is often ideal for joint care because poses are passive and fully supported. Tell your teacher about your joints before class — they'll guide you into shapes that feel safe and may suggest props to protect you.

How is yin different from restorative yoga?

Yin holds poses longer (three to five minutes) and invites a gentle sensation or mild stretch, while restorative is fully passive with heavy props and no sensation — pure rest. Both are calming; yin releases tissue, restorative recovers the nervous system.
