Restorative Yoga in Asheville

Fully supported poses with props and stillness, designed for deep rest and nervous-system recovery.

A fully supported restorative yoga pose using blankets and bolsters

Restorative Yoga is an art of complete rest. Fully supported poses — with blankets, bolsters, blocks and pillows — invite your nervous system to shift into deep recovery mode. You do almost nothing; props do the work. This practice is for anyone exhausted, grieving, healing from injury or simply needing to remember what stillness feels like.

What we offer

  • Fully supported poses that require no muscular effort from you
  • Abundant props — blankets, bolsters, blocks, pillows — arranged to cradle your body
  • Space to simply be still and breathe, with no instruction or adjustment
  • A parasympathetic nervous-system activation that heals fatigue and stress
  • Permission to rest without guilt in a warm, unhurried room

Questions

Will I fall asleep?

Many people drift into a meditative state or light sleep, and that's okay — your body is resting exactly as it needs to. Some stay alert and aware; both are restorative.

Can restorative yoga help with anxiety or insomnia?

Yes. By activating your parasympathetic nervous system, restorative practice teaches your body how to relax deeply. Regular sessions can help calm anxiety and improve sleep quality.

Do I need to be flexible or fit for restorative practice?

Not at all. Restorative is completely passive — your only job is to lie down and let the props hold you. Every body, at every age and condition, can rest deeply in restorative yoga.
